All India Institutes of Medical Sciences or AIIMS colleges in India is a group of autonomous medical universitas spread across the country. AIIMS in India has been declared as ‘Institutes of National Importance’ under the Act of Parliament.
The first AIIMS institute was established in New Delhi in 1956 and there are 20 functional All India Institutes of Medical Sciences in India.
