Kerala Ministers: UDF Wins, New Government on the Way — Full Update

Who are the new Kerala ministers in the UDF government. The Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) dominated the 2026 Kerala Assembly Elections, winning approximately 102 seats — a decisive mandate that ends a decade of Left Democratic Front (LDF) rule in the state.

Kerala Cabinet 2026: Ministry Not Yet Formed

As of today the new Kerala ministry has not been announced. The UDF has won the election but the swearing-in ceremony, the selection of the Chief Minister of Kerala, and the full list of Kerala Cabinet ministers are yet to be finalised. This page will be updated the moment the official Kerala government minister list is announced.

Who Will Be the Next Chief Minister of Kerala? Possible Candidates

The Congress has remained cautious about naming a Chief Ministerial candidate, insisting that the mandate is for the party and the alliance, not for any single leader. In line with Congress tradition, the newly elected MLAs are expected to pass a resolution empowering the party high command to choose the next CM.

Here are the top names being discussed for the post of Kerala Chief Minister:

1. V. D. Satheesan — Front-Runner

The Leader of Opposition in the outgoing Kerala Assembly, Satheesan is considered the frontrunner. A five-time MLA from Paravur in Ernakulam district, he is widely credited with leading the charge against the LDF government in the Assembly for the past five years. IUML Kerala chief Syed Sadikali Shihab Thangal has openly spoken in favour of Satheesan as CM.

2. Ramesh Chennithala — Senior Consensus Choice

A veteran Congress leader who won from the Haripad constituency in Alappuzha district, Chennithala served as Leader of Opposition during Pinarayi Vijayan’s previous term. He has been an All India President of NSUI and has strong organisational connections beyond Kerala.

3. K. C. Venugopal — High Command’s Man

As Congress’ National General Secretary (Organization), Venugopal is currently the second most powerful non-Gandhi Congress leader after party chief Mallikarjun Kharge, and is known to enjoy the trust of both Rahul Gandhi and Kharge. However, he did not contest the Assembly elections, which may be a limiting factor if the party decides the CM must be from among elected MLAs.

When Will Kerala Minister List 2026 Be Announced?

The new Kerala government is expected to be sworn in within the next few days following formal consultations between the UDF alliance partners and the Congress high command. The final decision on Kerala’s next Chief Minister is expected to be taken by the party’s high command after consultations with the newly elected MLAs.

⚡ This article will be updated with the complete list of Kerala Cabinet ministers — including their names, portfolios, and departments — as soon as the new ministry is officially announced.
