The Majhi Ladki Behan Yojana or the Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana is a social scheme by the state government of Maharashtra. The scheme was introduced in July 2024. Similar schemes are also being run by the state governments of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.

Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana – Objectives

This government scheme focuses on empowering economically disadvantaged young women and promoting self-reliance by providing economic support in the form of monthly financial aid.

Benefits and Financial Aid Structure of Ladki bBahin Yojana

The state government has set aside Rs 46,000 crore for this scheme.

Once registered with the scheme, eligible women will receive Rs 1,500 per month as a direct transfer to their bank account. This amounts to Rs 18,000 per year.

Who is Eligible for the Majhi Ladki Behan Yojana

The Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana is open to all female residents of Maharashtra. The key eligibility criteria are:

• The applicant must be a woman between the ages of 21 and 65 years.
• The applicant must prove to be a resident of Maharashtra.
• The applicant must have an independent bank account linked to her Aadhaar card.
• The applicant’s annual family income should be less than Rs 2.5 lakhs.

The applicant’s marital status does not influence eligibility. This scheme is open to unmarried, married, divorced, widowed, abandoned, and destitute women.

Conditions That Make Women Ineligible for the Majhi Ladki Behan Yojana

Women meeting certain criteria could be considered ineligible for this scheme. This includes:

• The applicant belongs to a family where at least one member is registered as an income tax payer.
• Someone in the applicant’s family is employed as a regular/ permanent state/ central government employee.
• The applicant already receives Rs 1,500 or more as a benefit from other government financial aid schemes.
• The woman belongs to a family where someone is a current or former MLA/MP.
• The woman belongs to a family that owns a four-wheeler (excluding tractors).

Women wanting to apply for the Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana will require the following documents to prove their eligibility.

• Aadhar card (must be linked to the bank account)
• Copy of their bank passbook
• A recent colour passport-sized photograph
• Domicile Certificate/ Birth Certificate/ School Leaving Certificate/ Voter ID Card/ Ration Card
• Income certificate
• Letter of guarantee certifying the applicant’s compliance with the scheme terms and conditions

Step 2: Click on ‘Applicant Login’

Step 3: Click on ‘Create account’

Step 4: Enter your details in the form and click on the Signup icon.

Step 5: Go back to the homepage and log in to your account with your mobile number and password.

Step 6: Go to ‘Application of Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana’

Step 7: Enter your Aadhaar number and click on the verify button. Enter the OTP as received via SMS.

Step 8: Fill in the Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana application form and upload copies of all the required documents. Click on the Submit button to complete the process.

Majhi Ladki Behan Scheme, Maharashtra – Online Application Process Through the Mobile App

Women with access to a smartphone can also apply for the Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana through the Nari Shakti Doot application. This app can be downloaded Google Store. Once installed, here’s what you need to do:

Step 1: Click on the login button and enter your mobile number to create an account.

Step 2: Enter the OTP as received via SMS to verify your phone number.

Step 3: A profile update form will appear. Enter your details in this form and click on the Update button.

Step 4: Select the Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana button.

Step 5: Fill in your details in the application form and upload the required documents. Finally, click on the Submit button.

Women who are unable to complete the application process online can seek help from their nearest:

Once your application is submitted, you can check the processing status through the website or by visiting your local Aaple Sarkar Seva Kendra, Anganwadi, or Ward Office. You will also receive updates via SMS.
