NaMo Bharat (Vande Metro) and Rapid Rail – Full List of Operational, Under-Construction & Proposed Corridors

NaMo Bharat train is India’s modern short- and medium-distance rapid rail initiative. It brings together two distinct systems:

  1. NaMo Bharat (Intercity EMU / Vande Metro) — Indian Railways’ new generation of regional commuter trains, built on the Vande Bharat platform for journeys of up to ~300 km. These offer fast seating-only travel for daily intercity commuters, branded initially as Vande Metro and later unified under NaMo Bharat.
  2. NaMo Bharat (RRTS / Rapid Rail) — the Regional Rapid Transit System developed by the NCRTC, enabling high-speed, high-frequency travel between major NCR cities such as Delhi, Meerut, and Alwar. These operate on dedicated corridors at speeds up to 180 km/h, designed to decongest urban traffic.
